Job Description
The first level of the Facilities Services Series is responsible for providing cleaning and grounds keeping services for County facilities by following established standards and procedures. Responsibilities may include assisting with cleaning and sanitizing floors, walls, ceilings, and furniture; cleaning bathrooms and elevators; performing snow removal and salting duties; recycling; and maintaining custodial supplies.
Job Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Performs custodial duties, to include replenishing paper supplies, towels, and soap; dusting; mopping, sweeping, and vacuuming floors; performing snow removal and salting duties; emptying trash and recycling applicable waste; and/or performing related activities.
Performs a variety of custodial sanitizing duties, which includes cleaning and disinfecting floors, windows, sinks, counters, shower areas, toilets, water fountains and other fixtures, elevators, and other assigned areas.
Monitors available custodial supplies and notifies higher-level staff when stock levels reach specified levels.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Education and/or Experience
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or G.E.D.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Basic cleaning techniques;
Applicable cleaning chemicals;
Safe work practices;
Customer service principles;
Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment;
Modern office technology.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Cleaning and sanitizing facilities and equipment;
Handling and applying applicable cleaning chemicals;
Monitoring and replenishing inventory;
Providing customer service;
Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications;
Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Incumbents may be exposed to hazardous physical conditions, such as, mechanical parts, electrical currents, and vibrations; atmospheric conditions, such as fumes, odors, gases, and poor ventilation; hazardous materials, such as chemicals, blood, and other bodily fluids; and extreme temperatures.

2026 GRADE LEVEL: 0A12/Hourly Pay Range: $19.86-$26.66
