Job Description
Interior Design Coordinator - High-End Residential Rebuild (Palisades & Malibu) Responsibilities & Duties Coordinate interior design scopes from early concept through closeout for custom residential rebuild and restoration projects. Partner with clients, designers, architects, and construction teams to align one vision across the full project lifecycle (design development construction install). Maintain project programming, finish plans, and selection schedules to support a streamlined rebuild process (including tight decision timelines).
Manage day-to-day communication and status updates with clients and stakeholders; keep decisions documented and actionable. Track and support budgets, timelines, and phased schedules; escalate risks early and help keep work on-plan. Source, coordinate, and track procurement of materials, finishes, fixtures, furnishings, and equipment; manage lead times and substitutions.
Review and coordinate submittals, shop drawings, samples, and mockups for alignment with specifications and design intent. Maintain clean project documentation (drawings, specs, finish schedules, selection logs, correspondence, approvals, change notes). Collaborate with internal teams to support quality standards so final execution meets design specifications and client expectations.
Support rebuild-specific needs by coordinating design inputs alongside surveys, permitting workflows, and compliance considerations as required by the broader project team. Qualifications & Skills Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or a related field (or equivalent professional experience). 2-5 years of experience coordinating interior design projects (residential preferred).
Proficiency with design/production tools such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit (or comparable). Strong understanding of interior documentation: finish schedules, specifications, FF&E, submittals, and installation coordination. Excellent organization, time management, and multi-project prioritization skills.
Confident, polished communicator with a client-service mindset-comfortable leading details and follow-ups. Strong aesthetic judgment and meticulous attention to detail. Familiarity working in California residential environments; comfort coordinating within regulated jurisdictions is a plus.
Preferred (Nice to Have) NCIDQ or other professional certification. Bachelors in Architecture or Interior Design Experience supporting rebuild/restoration projects and/or projects emphasizing fire-resilient materials, durability-forward detailing, and long-lead procurement. High-end custom home or luxury hotel experience (premium finishes, bespoke millwork, specialty vendors, complex installs).
