Special Education Resource Teacher

Join a dedicated team that fosters autonomy and creativity, while receiving a competitive salary, opportunities for career and personal growth, and the gratification that comes from creating positive multi-generational change.

Ednovate Background

Ednovate launched its first school, USC Hybrid High, a personalized learning high school, in 2012. Since then, Ednovate has grown to seven schools and is on a trajectory to reach 11 schools over the next few years (you can read more about our schools here). Ednovate is committed to serving in areas where students traditionally lack access to a quality college prep education by building tuition-free, safe, and high-performing public schools to serve neighborhoods that need it the most. Ednovate is currently planning for our next growth phase as we continue to fulfill our mission to make a positive multigenerational change within the communities we serve and in our profession.

We're made up of world travelers, nacho connoisseurs, KPOP business owners, and Beyonce fans. We love LA and OC, and we're our students' biggest cheerleaders. We are looking to hire innovative changemakers who aim to continue our goal of becoming the high school experts across Southern California. Sound like you? Keep reading.

Position Overview

You will be responsible for teaching students with learning disabilities or physical, mental, or emotional challenges by assessing individual needs, developing individualized education plans (IEPs), adapting curriculum, delivering instruction using specialized teaching methods, monitoring student progress and collaborating with parents and other teammates to ensure each student reaches their full potential within the classroom environment. This role is an exciting opportunity for teachers who believe deeply that all students can and must achieve at high levels and who are hungry to grow as people and professionals in a collaborative, results-oriented environment. This is a full-time, exempt role that reports to the principal.

What You'll Do

Support teachers in implementing best-in-class instructional practices. Coordinate and implement small group instruction for students with disabilities, in accordance with their IEPs. Manage the delivery of special education services and supports. Modify curriculum to meet individual student needs. Regularly track student mastery and goal attainment through data collection systems and prioritize highest-leverage data to adapt and improve instruction on an ongoing basis. Provide students with clear, actionable feedback to drive continuous growth.

Lead special education case management and compliance. Provide overall case management, including assessing students’ individual learning needs. Develop appropriate IEPs and collaborate with general education teachers and the special education team to ensure that all special education related laws and timelines are adhered to with 100% fidelity.

Build transformative relationships with students and families. Support students in meeting yearly promotion requirements through social-emotional support, guided reflection, and one-on-one conferences. Advocate for student access to the resources and supports they need. Keep families engaged in their child’s progress and collaborate on their education.

Create and maintain a caring and accountable student culture. Implement clear, consistent, logical class structures, routines, and expectations aligned with our student culture model. Foster a sense of community through relationship-building among students. Hold consistently high expectations for all students and support students to meet them. Create a sense of urgency, optimism, and engagement amongst students.

Contribute positively to the team. Build positive relationships with your teammates. Lean into your vulnerability as a means of building trust. Actively engage in difficult conversations and debate to ensure the best ideas surface. Drive for clarity in decision making. Seek, implement, and offer feedback necessary for individual and team growth. Commit to collective results.

Ednovate does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, handicap, age, religion, ****** orientation, or national or ethnic origin. Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily and, if requested, reasonable accommodations will be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their job, absent undue hardship.
We know applying for a new job can be daunting, and studies have shown that individuals from historically underrepresented communities may only apply to roles when they meet 100% of the qualifications.
