The Department of Asian Languages and Cultures (ALC) at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) invites applications for a full-time (100%) Lecturer position in Japanese language starting in fall 2026.
Qualified candidates must have native or near-native proficiency in Japanese and English. Candidates should hold an M.A. or Ph.D. degree in applied linguistics, Japanese language/linguistics, education, language pedagogy, and/or other language education-related areas. Three years or more of experience in teaching all levels of Japanese language courses at a university level is desirable.
Complete application must include: 1) cover letter; 2) teaching statement; 3) curriculum vitae; 4) sample sets of student evaluations (if available); 5) names of three references; 6) sample lesson plans for an introductory class, an intermediate class and an advanced class; 7) statement on your past contributions and future commitments to advancing UCLA's mission; and 8) video demonstration of recent classroom teaching (link must be included in CV).
