ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge& Skills)
Current Certification of Competence as a Registered Practical Nurse with the Ontario College of Nurses.
RPN Diploma preferred.
Current BCLS certification.
2 years hospital nursing experience within the past 3 years.
2 years recent rehabilitation experience.
2 years recent stroke experience.
2 years surgical experience.
Certificate in Gerontology
1 year Geriatric experience within the past 3 years.
Catheterization, aseptic techniques.
-Computer Skills - Intranet, Microsoft Office, Care Manager, STAR, Solcom,
Risk Monitor Pro.
Practice level consistent with the full scope of practice as outlined by the College of
Nurses of Ontario, which includes but is not limited to:
Evidence of the successful, administration and management of blood &
blood products
Evidence of the successful completion and/or practice in processing physician
orders, administration of oral, subcutaneous, IM, suppository, aerosol and
IV medications, venipuncture and IV initiation and management
practice at CKHA
Familiarity with MDS Chronic Care Assessment Tool preferred.
Fundamentals in Palliative Care preferred
Member of RPNAO preferred
