About The Role – 32+76 - Manager - Ammonium Nitrate Emulsion (Western Canada)

We are excited to announce an opportunity at Orica for a Manager - Ammonium Nitrate Emulsion (ANE) within our North America Continuous Manufacturing team focused on the safe, reliable and optimised production of ANE to be supplied on time and in full to the North American direct and indirect businesses.

Orica has 13 Ammonium Nitrate Emulsion facilities across Canada, the United States and the Dominican Republic.

The ANE teams will need to work collaboratively with other North American functions (e.g. Safety, Continuous Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering etc).

Victor Gold
Salcha (future, following capital upgrade)

We are open to this person being based at any of the Orica locations in Western Canada.
What you will be doing

The safety and health of the ANE facility teams
Compliance to environmental and regulatory requirements
Quality and volume of product produced to meet direct and indirect business requirements
Development of maintenance strategies, maintenance plans & asset capital plans (including maintenance shutdown planning)
The production costs and unit costs of the product and ANE facilities budgets
Continual management of relevant enterprise/union agreements
People management and the engagement and motivation of the AME teams Team which includes training and development, performance management, reward and recognitions etc
Participation in a (to be established) community of practise, with a view to establishing standardisation & best practise sharing
Provide a work environment that encourages individuals to be self-motivated

Connection with the bigger picture:

Implementation of an operationally focused business model for the ANE assets, leveraging approaches from continuous manufacturing to improve safety performance (personal and process safety), reliability and cost while also ensuring that asset management approaches are applied to build a full asset picture for forecasting.
What you will bring

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science or related discipline
At least 7 years’ work experience (preferably in mining, mining services, manufacturing, heavy industry, petrochemical)
At least 2 years technical experience specifically in Chemical Processing
At least 5 years of experience managing teams
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks applicable to the region. To include, but not limited to NRCAN and ERD
Fluent in written and spoken English

Role dimensions

Must be open to traveling up to 50% throughout Western Canada and USA
Must be open to reporting to an Orica office at least three days a week, when not traveling
Your qualifications

Experience in Chemical Manufacturing Environment, Major Hazard Facility, technical experience with hazardous materials

Compensation Range

$107,700 - $155,000
Eligible for annual short-term incentive plan

(Salary to be determined by the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
