About the job:
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative 3D Technical Artist with specialized experience in creating and deploying content for holographic displays, specifically Holobox technology. The ideal candidate will be a creative and technical problem-solver who can develop and optimize visually stunning and interactive holographic experiences. You will be responsible for the end-to-end asset pipeline, from creation in Blender to integration and optimization in Unity or Unreal Engine for deployment on our Holobox units.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Create, optimize, and export high-quality 3D assets from Blender, specifically tailored for Holobox displays, with a focus on creating the illusion of a free-floating hologram.
2. Develop specialized shaders and materials in Unity or Unreal Engine that enhance the holographic effect, such as adding visual distortions, scan lines, or edge glows, and ensuring optimal performance on the display hardware.
3. Design and implement interactive elements for Holobox content, utilizing engine features and potentially integrating with external sensors for gesture or motion detection.
4. Optimize 3D models and animations for the specific resolution and rendering requirements of Holobox technology, ensuring smooth, high-fidelity playback without visual artifacts.
5. Work closely with the creative and marketing teams to bring concepts to life, providing technical guidance and creative solutions for holographic presentations.
6. Utilize scripting skills (Python for Blender, C# for Unity, or C++ and Blueprints for Unreal) to build custom tools and automate workflows for creating holographic content more efficiently.
7. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to content display, asset streaming, and visual performance on the Holobox hardware.
8. Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and techniques for holographic and immersive displays.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Proven experience as a Technical Artist or Developer with a strong portfolio showcasing 3D modeling, animation, and particularly holographic or special effects work.
2. Expert-level proficiency in Blender for 3D modeling, texturing, rigging, and animation.
3. Strong hands-on experience with either Unity 3D or Unreal Engine, including shader development for translucent and emissive effects.
4. Demonstrable experience creating and optimizing assets specifically for real-time applications and unique display systems like Holoboxes.
5. Proficiency in scripting, including Python for Blender and C# (Unity) or C++ / Blueprints (Unreal).
6. Deep understanding of 3D graphics principles, rendering pipelines, and asset optimization techniques for unique display configurations.
7. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaborative skills.
8. A strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency in creating visually compelling and technically sound 3D experiences.
Preferred (Bonus) Skills:
1. Experience with interactive technologies such as touch sensors or motion-sensing cameras.
2. Knowledge of procedural content generation techniques in Blender or other tools.
3. Experience with other 3D software such as Substance Painter or Houdini.
4. Background in marketing, advertising, or event technology.
