Clerk Garde 7/8, Competitive package up to $137,314 pa (salary from $110,266.00 - $122,058.00 pa plus superannuation and annual leave loading)
Temporary up to June 2026

This is an Aboriginal identified recruitment under Part 5, clause 26 of the Government Sector Employment (General) Rules 2014. This means we want to recruit an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person for this role.

Legal Aid NSW helps people with their legal problems. We can help people with most areas criminal law, family law and every day civil law legal issues. We give legal advice, help at court and do family dispute resolution. We can do this over the telephone or at one of our 28 offices.


About the role:


We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Aboriginal Employment Initiatives Project Coordinator to join the Aboriginal Services Branch. You will work in a dynamic team that is supportive and inclusive, and that strives to make a meaningful impact on the lives of Aboriginal people. This role is based in our Central Sydney office. Flexible work arrangements are available including working from home depending on team operational requirements.


This role works closely with the Manager Aboriginal Programs to provide high level project management, co-ordination and support for the development and implementation of culturally informed projects within the Legal Aid NSW Strategic Plan and the Aboriginal Employment and Career Development Strategy.


In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing programs aimed at increasing employment and development opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. You will establish and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to create sustainable employment pathways for the community and meaningful development opportunities for Aboriginal staff.


About you:


The successful candidate will be a team player who enjoys collaborating with others to achieve goals. Your demonstrated understanding of the opportunities and challenges, along with your passion to advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will shape the development of projects and programs that best meet the needs of Aboriginal communities.


You will possess strong project management skills with proven experience in implementing and coordinating Aboriginal employment programs. Your exceptional organisational and time management skills, along with your excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain strong and at times, complex relationships with stakeholders within the organisation and the community will be seen as highly desirable.


In this role, you will skilfully navigate and overcome common challenges, such as ensuring that programs are culturally appropriate and respectful, building trust, coordinating stakeholders and monitoring and evaluating initiatives. Your strong interpersonal skills, cultural competency, strategic thinking and initiative will see you succeed in this role and make a meaningful impact.
