ART INSTRUCTORS

SA Institute is a community partner of EMSB (English Montreal School Board) and one of the largest adult vocational training centers in Montreal. Our mission is to help immigrants adapt to Canadian life by offering diverse learning opportunities.

Currently, SA Institute is seeking experienced art teachers with formal academic training in drawing and fine arts to teach children and teens.

Position: Drawing Teacher (Kids: Ages 5–12, Teens: Ages 13–16)

ART TEACHER FOR KIDS

Position: Drawing Teacher (Kids: Ages 5-12, Teens: Ages 13-16)

Responsibilities

Teach Fundamental Drawing Techniques

Focus on building students’ foundational skills, including sketching, shading, perspective, color theory, and composition.
Emphasize structured learning methods that are aligned with formal art education principles.
Plan and Deliver Themed Lessons

Create lesson plans with clear learning objectives that reflect formal artistic training.
Use project-based learning to encourage the development of technical skills alongside creativity.
Age-Appropriate Teaching

For Kids (Ages 5–12):
Teach basic drawing principles, focusing on line work, shapes, and color coordination.
Guide students in completing simple, structured art projects in 2–3 sessions.
For Teens (Ages 13–16):
Introduce advanced techniques such as sketching from observation, shading, and working with mediums like watercolor or acrylic.
Support students in creating detailed, portfolio-worthy works within 2–4 sessions.
Foster Artistic Growth

Cultivate an appreciation for formal artistic practices while encouraging personal expression and creativity.
Provide constructive feedback that aligns with academic art standards.
Engage Students and Parents
Maintain regular communication with parents, showcasing students’ progress and achievements.
Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a closely related field with formal training in drawing and painting.
Demonstrated experience teaching academic drawing techniques to children and teens.
Strong knowledge of formal artistic principles, including color theory, anatomy, perspective, and composition.
Excellent communication skills and a passion for nurturing young artists.
A portfolio showcasing proficiency in academic drawing and painting (required).

Responsabilités

Approche Pédagogique Adaptée à l’Âge

Pour les Enfants (5–12 ans) :
Enseigner les bases du dessin : lignes, formes, et coordination des couleurs.
Accompagner les élèves dans la réalisation de projets artistiques simples en 2–3 cours.
Pour les Adolescents (13–16 ans) :
Introduire des techniques avancées : dessin d’observation, ombrage, utilisation de l’aquarelle ou de l’acrylique.
Aider les élèves à créer des œuvres détaillées et adaptées à un portfolio en 2–4 cours.
Favoriser le Développement Artistique

Cultiver une appréciation des pratiques artistiques académiques tout en encourageant l’expression personnelle.

Interagir avec les Élèves et les Parents

Qualifications

Diplôme universitaire (ou plus) en Beaux-Arts, Éducation Artistique, ou dans un domaine connexe avec une formation formelle en dessin et peinture.
Expérience démontrée dans l’enseignement des techniques de dessin académique à des enfants et adolescents.
Connaissances approfondies des principes artistiques formels : théorie des couleurs, anatomie, perspective et composition.
Excellentes compétences en communication et passion pour accompagner les jeunes artistes.
Un portfolio démontrant une maîtrise du dessin et de la peinture académiques (obligatoire).
