The opportunity:
Gorman is known for its bold designs and artist collaborations. We are seeking an experienced Accessories Designer to join our creative team and help craft unique, eye-catching accessories that align with Gorman’s distinct aesthetic.
As the Accessories Designer, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire design process for accessories, from concept to production. You will bring your ideas to life through sketches and CAD software, refining designs into prototypes ready for production. You will collaborate closely with our internal design team, artists, and overseas suppliers to ensure that each piece reflects the essence of Gorman, meets high-quality standards, and appeals to our target customers.
This position is fully office-based in Abbotsford, VIC, to facilitate collaboration and provide greater opportunities for mentoring, networking, and career development through in-person interactions. In this role we are seeking designers with a minimum of 2 years accessories experience in the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Forecast emerging trends and develop mood boards to inspire upcoming collections.
Manage product development from initial concept through to production.
Create technical drawings and tech packs using Adobe Creative Suite.
Liaise with overseas suppliers to ensure high standards for materials and finishes.
Oversee sample and material management, providing detailed feedback on prototypes.
Collaborate with the internal design team to ensure accessory collections align with Gorman’s seasonal releases.
Work with our planners to review seasonal sales and product data to inform and refine future designs.
Coordinate PR samples and assist with styling and preparation for photo shoots.
Visit stores to gather feedback and ensure product quality in-store meets expectations.
About You We are looking for someone with a keen eye for design, who is self-motivated and can work autonomously to drive innovation within our accessory lines. You should balance creativity with the practicalities of production, maintaining both quality and profitability in your designs.
Skills & Qualifications:
Experience in a design role, particularly in accessories.
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) for technical design work.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage timelines from concept to production.
Experience working with overseas suppliers is essential.
Knowledge of packaging and textile design is a plus.
Strong understanding of material selection and production processes.
Excellent attention to detail and quality control.
