Description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Head Accountant to lead our accounting department. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in accounting practices, GST, tax regulations, compliance, and legal matters. This role requires a strategic thinker who can ensure the integrity of our financial information, oversee compliance with laws and regulations, and contribute to the overall financial strategy of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Management:
- Oversee the accounting department, providing direction, supervision, and mentorship to accounting staff.
- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and systems to ensure efficient and effective operations.
- Ensure the team meets all reporting deadlines and maintains high standards of accuracy and integrity.
2. Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP or IFRS.
- Analyse financial data and provide insights to senior management to support strategic decision-making.
3. GST and Taxation:
- Oversee all GST-related activities, ensuring compliance with GST regulations.
- Manage and coordinate tax filings, payments, and reporting for corporate, sales, and other relevant taxes.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations and implement necessary changes to comply with new requirements.
4. Compliance and Legal:
- Ensure the company complies with all financial and legal regulations.
- Manage internal and external audits, ensuring all financial documents are accurate and compliant with regulations.
- Liaise with external legal advisors on legal matters affecting the finance department and the company at large.
5. Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop accurate and realistic budgets.
- Monitor and report on budget variances, providing explanations and recommendations for corrective actions.
6. Internal Controls and Risk Management:
- Develop and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective risk management practices.
7. Strategic Planning:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the companys financial strategy.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support long-term strategic planning and business growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CA certification preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of GST regulations, tax laws, compliance, and legal matters.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply financial data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
