Position Title: Account Manager – Govt Business

Department: IBG

Reports To: Govt Banking Head

Job Purpose

Govts all over the world and in India have critical functions to perform ranging from creating and maintain key infrastructure, working towards social and economic well being of citizens, equitable distribution of resources, providing enabling environment to businesses, ensuring high quality healthcare and education, food security etc. They budget for, raise and spend money to ensure these objectives and thus becomes an important segment to service from Banking industry perspective. Engagement with Govt machinery – both central as well as state and subsequent sales and service effort requires specialised knowledge, skill and is a full time effort. In order to capture this opportunity and align with Bank’s and Group’ objective, this critical position is being created.

Key Accountabilities
• Initiate coverage and onboard various central and state Govt ministries, departments autonomous bodies etc.
• Garner CA, SA and FD balances from this segment
• Enable linkages between central and state level Govt contacts to drive business
• Provide Active intelligence to Govt Banking Head and RMs on opportunities and movements

Job Duties & responsibilities
• Handling management and servicing of key Govt clients in the portfolio
• Coordinating and Fixing up meetings in Central Government Ministries.
• Doing Joint calls with the Head – Central Government Banking, Branches and CMS Team.
• Handling individual servicing of senior Govt. Officials and coordinating with branches and respective backend teams for solutions.
• Providing information on Govt. officials (Postings/transfers/appointments) for IAS, IPS, IRS, ICAS, and other Govt. officials at both a State and central level on a daily basis.
• Tracking of Banking Tendors across the country and sending the same to respective teams across the country for action.
• Coordinating with branches and teams for customized offering to be submitted at various Govt. departments.
• Supporting teams and Branches across the country for relevant circulars to support banking can be done in Scheduled Commercial Banks
• Downloading of latest CAG circulars to the Central Government Banking Team
• Collating key competition information (Deposits/Advances/NPA/Net Profit/Networth and other key rations and regular updation of same.

Required Experience
• 6-8 years of relevant banking experience with strong focus on Govt Banking business
• Strong contacts in Ministries, secretarial, Govt departments etc
• Knowledge of competitors and market

Education / Preferred Qualifications

Graduation with relevant number of years of experience in Corporate Banking

• Comfortable with tight deadlines

Technical Competencies
• Sound understanding of liability and asset products and associated technology platforms and operational procedures
• Understanding of regulatory guidelines on banking policies issued by MAS/ RBI/SEBI (local regulations in India) and local laws and regulations that impact businesses in general. Understanding of KYC requirements & Anti-money Laundering Policies are critical.
• Knowledge of financial markets, products & competitor offerings to assist in meaningful dialogue with clients

Work Relationship
• Close interaction with RMs / Branch Manager to ensure consistent on boarding of good quality customers and thereby assisting in delivery of Sales targets.
• Close interaction with various stakeholders to ensure consistent and reliable service delivery to the customer.
