We are seeking a Financial Accountant to join our team of finance professionals.

You will be responsible for:

completing monthly, annual, and other financial reporting both for internal and external purposes, including CFISnet reporting

assist with the external audit process

assist with managing the month end process, including completing month end tasks

review reconciliations and tax returns

contribute to key Government budget requirements, including baseline updates and preparation of Estimates of Appropriations

provide technical accounting advice

supporting and guiding other team members.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

demonstrated experience within the public sector or large complex environment with the ability to influence key stakeholders

previous experience in Government financial accounting and understanding the Machinery of Government would be advantageous

knowledge and demonstrable competence in financial accounting practices and procedures

an ability to analyse technical accounting issues and provide advice to business units in relation to accounting requirements and financial impacts

attention to detail and high level of accuracy, along with proven written and oral communication skills

a passion for improving business processes while maintaining a strong internal control environment

a self-starter, with the ability to use initiative, pre-empt information requests and be approachable with a can-do attitude

a commitment to building Māori capability - both personally and within the team

holding or working towards being a Chartered Accountant (or equivalent).

Utu ā-tau/Salary

The appointing salary for this role will be between $84,562 and $116,273 based on skills and experience.
