Overview
The Accountant will be responsible for full cycle accounting up to and including financial statements, preparation and variance analysis, cost allocations, cash flow, budgeting, refunds, variance and financial analysis. This role possesses a high degree of integrity when managing day to day accounting responsibilities, monitoring and reporting against operating and capital budgets, monthly accounting, and financial planning.
Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Prepares cheques, codes and posts invoices, prepares deposits, journal entries, reconciliations
• Reviews monthly bank reconciliations
• Daily reconciliation of credit card receipts, reports and reconciles varying data
• Assist with month-end financial reports on multi-accounting books
• Prepare departmental financial statements
• Calculate and submit various HST and PST reports and payments
• Assist with preparation and maintenance of working papers and spreadsheets
• Assist in the preparation of budget and financial forecasts
• Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all financial and bookkeeping activities
• Maintain policy and procedure documents
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
To be considered for and to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Qualifications include:
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required
• Preference will be given to candidates that hold or are in the CPA designation program
• 2-4 years recent related experience in full cycle accounting
• Proven experience in taking responsibility for accounting processes, policies, and systems
• Strong financial acumen and analytical agility
• Detail oriented, organized and able to meet tight deadlines
• Advanced working knowledge of Excel and Quick books
• Hands on experiance in US Accounting.
