The Role
We're looking for an experienced and self-motivated Assistant Accountant to join the Elite Books team. This is a long-term role for someone who wants to grow with a business that's going places. If you're organised, client-focused, and comfortable managing your own time across both remote and in-field environments, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and general ledger entries across multiple client files
Process client payments accurately and on time
Assist with month-end processing including accruals, reconciliations and financial registers
Assist with monthly financial reporting, including reviewing results, identifying variances, and supporting client discussions
Maintain accurate and well-structured client files to support efficient review processes
Assist with payroll processing
Maintain clear and timely communication with clients and internal team members
Ad hoc duties as required
Skills & Experience
Minimum 3 years' experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role
Strong working knowledge of Xero — Xero certification highly regarded
Proficient across Microsoft 365
Experience managing multiple client files simultaneously in a practice environment
Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines without close supervision
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment
Experience in the building and construction industry is a significant advantage
To Be Successful You Will Have
Bachelor's degree majoring in Accounting or Finance (preferred) or equivalent practical experience
Proven ability to manage competing priorities across a client portfolio
Able to prioritise and manage workload without constant direction in a remote environment
Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, based in Australia
