Job Description
This is a full-time virtual position responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting compliance requirements, and delivering reliable financial reporting to management.
The role covers a broad range of finance functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, reporting, and month-end processes. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the finance function is accurate, organised, and aligned with internal procedures and reporting standards.
This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and clear communication with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers.
Key ResponsibilitiesDaily / Weekly Responsibilities
Record and manage daily financial transactions
Allocate remittances received in Simpro and the accounting system
Allocate and reconcile bank feeds
Perform bank reconciliations
Manage accounts payable, including uploading and processing supplier invoices
Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, payment follow-ups, and debtor tracking
Track expenses and maintain accurate financial records
Review finance-related emails and respond to queries
Communicate with suppliers and customers regarding finance matters
Ensure alignment between operational and accounting systems (Simpro and Xero/MYOB)
Weekly Responsibilities
Process payroll and prepare payroll files for approval
Issue payslips and support payroll compliance requirements
Prepare and reconcile superannuation obligations
Submit payroll reporting through the relevant system
Review staff reimbursements and supporting documentation
Provide outstanding debtor and creditor summaries to management
Prepare payment runs and upload ABA files for approval and processing
Monthly / Quarterly Responsibilities
Prepare BAS / GST and IAS documentation
Generate monthly financial statements
Conduct cash flow reporting
Prepare budget vs actual reports
Deliver monthly management reports
Complete month-end closing procedures
Reconcile creditor statements and review outstanding balances
Review loan accounts, payroll liabilities, leave balances, and clearing accounts
Ensure all debtor, invoice, and finance records are complete and up to date
Prepare quarterly payroll tax and other statutory obligations as required
Ongoing Finance Support
Provide full bookkeeping oversight across daily and monthly operations
Ensure reconciliation accuracy across all finance systems
Maintain and improve finance workflows and SOPs
Support payroll and superannuation setup and ongoing processing
Assist accountants, managers, and finance stakeholders with reporting and administration
Contribute to continuous improvement of financial controls, reporting accuracy, and workflow efficiency
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Bookkeeping, or a related field
CPA qualification required (or working towards CPA as part of career progression)
3–5 years of accounting and bookkeeping experience
Strong understanding of core finance functions: AP, AR, payroll, reconciliations, reporting, and month-end processes
Knowledge of Australian compliance requirements (BAS, GST, payroll, superannuation)
Experience with accounting systems such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or similar
Experience with job management systems such as Simpro is highly regarded
Strong Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets skills
High attention to detail and accuracy in financial work
Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage priorities effectively
Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Ability to follow SOPs and contribute to process improvements
High level of professionalism and confidentiality
Experience in trade, construction, electrical, or HVAC industries is an advantage
Ability to align with Western Australian working hours
Role Progression
This position will begin as a full-time remote role with a 3-month probation period.
Upon successful completion of probation, the role may transition into a permanent full-time position, with clear growth opportunities within the business.
