Position Summary

As the Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for planning, supervising, and directing the activity of the accounting staff and implementing systems and processes for collecting, verifying, processing, and reporting financial information in an accurate and timely manner. In addition, you will own the cost accounting and production controlling responsibilities. You will work closely with all departments including Hospitality (tasting room and restaurant), Winemaking, and Marketing.

Essential Functions

• Manage day-to-day accounting activities and month-end close process

• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all monthly financial information; execute judgment and ensure the right decisions are reached to accurately report financial results

• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise accounting staff; ensure the team is appropriately structured and held accountable for delivering outcomes

• Act as a key point of contact for external CPAs; manage preparation and support for review and federal tax return

• Cost accounting responsibilities include calculating all product costs and driving improvements through analytics as well as providing financial reporting to Wine Making teams

• Perform inventory valuations and reconcile the cased goods and bulk wine inventory in the subledger to the general ledger

• Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting for the bank

• Review and file all local, state, and federal tax returns

• Design and administer internal controls

• Identify and implement accounting process and systems improvements working cross functionally with other departments

• Other tasks as directed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance

• CPA or CPA qualified

• 6+ years of accounting experience including 2 years of managing people

• Solid understanding of US GAAP

• Experience with Sage Intacct

• Advanced Excel skills

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus

• Curious; interested in getting into the detail of analysis

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, and sitting.

• Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 10 pounds.

• Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 20 pounds.

• Must be able to work at computer or desk area for extended periods of time.

• Must be able to use a computer and see color.
