Job Title: Accounting Specialist
Location: Londonderry, NH (Local candidates preferred)
Employment Type: W2 Contract
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist to support general and cost accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls, with prior experience in managing complex accounting processes and teams. This position involves working closely with various internal departments to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and corporate policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain accounts and records for general and cost accounting functions
Manage accounting systems including journal entries, general ledger, AR/AP, and revenue reconciliation
Prepare income statements, balance sheets, P&L statements, and other financial reports
Analyze financial data and allocate costs across labor, equipment, depreciation, and other areas
Conduct month-end and quarter-end close procedures, including variance analysis (Balance Sheet & P&L)
Review and approve journal entries and manual entries
Perform account reconciliations
Oversee inventory year-end physical counts
Review contract worksheets and revenue-related documentation
Support compliance and internal control efforts, including SOX and ICFR audits
Prepare disclosures (e.g., Webforms) and representation letters
Provide support for government audits and regulatory issues
Collaborate with teams on tax submissions (sales and use tax) and understand rate impacts
Lead and contribute to process improvements and operational initiatives
Assist with year-end close and financial statement preparation
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
8–10 years of progressive accounting experience
Prior experience in personnel management and/or as a Controller
In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
Strong understanding of AR/AP processes, cash collections, and aging reports
Familiarity with inventory accounting and cost tracking
Experience supporting SOX compliance and working with audit teams
Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
Strong system and Excel skills; ERP experience preferred
Note: This role is for W2 candidates only. Remote work is not available — candidates must be located near Londonderry, NH.
Job Types: Contract, Temporary, Temp-to-hire
Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
