We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist with a strong background in the construction industry. Knowledge of the Security of Payments Act and experience with the Premier financial system would be a great asset.

Position Overview:
As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will manage the payment cycle for our construction projects, ensuring timely and accurate payments in line with industry regulations. This role will be based at our Unanderra office. You will work closely with project managers, suppliers, and subcontractors, processing invoices, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining financial records. Experience in the construction industry and knowledge of the Security of Payments Act are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and reconciliation.
Ensure compliance with the Security of Payments Act, processing payments to subcontractors and suppliers in a timely manner.
Verify and process purchase orders, contracts, and invoices related to construction projects.
Resolve queries and disputes with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Perform reconciliations of supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
Maintain accurate financial records and documentation for audits and reporting.
Support month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all accounts payable tasks are completed accurately and on time.
Utilize the Premier financial system for invoice processing, payments, and reporting (training can be provided if needed).
Qualifications:

Proven experience in accounts payable within the construction industry is essential.
Strong understanding of the Security of Payments Act and its application in construction-related payments.
Experience with financial systems, Premier knowledge is highly desirable.
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines consistently.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills to handle disputes with suppliers and contractors.
Proficiency in MS Excel and other accounting software.
