At Ranfurly Care Society, we aim to create a safe and supportive community where adults with intellectual disabilities grow, thrive and live fulfilling lives through our residential homes and Activity Centre.
We are looking to hire a support worker for our Activity Centre. Our Activity Centre is open Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a support worker, your role will be to guide and encourage our students in achieving their goals and enjoying their local community. The role will include, but is not limited to:
Leading group activities both on site and in the wider community
Providing personal cares
Act as a coach to assigned individuals, helping and encouraging them to reach their goals as part of their Lifestyle Plan.
We offer over 30 different activities to our students, for this reason we need someone who:
Is flexible and adaptable.
Has a sense of humour and fun, energetic energy.
Is artistic and could run art groups using various mediums.
Can dance and teach dance groups, with the possibility of performing live shows.
Has initiative and good social skills, with the ability to relate to others.
Has good report writing skills.
This role would a teacher’s aide, an ex-teacher or an activities leader
Essential Skills:
You must hold a full, clean NZ driver’s license.
You must have at least a Level 2 Certificate Qualification
You must have great organizational skills and a calm disposition.
Experience in working with people who have intellectual disabilities is an advantage but not essential.
The ability to work as a team-player.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $31.00 – $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
