Primary objective
Manage and maintain ADABAS databases, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and system integrity while supporting and
upgrading related Software AG products within the NT Government's IT infrastructure. Additionally, the role involves
troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, contributing to efficient system operations, and providing expertise in CICS online
and batch processing environments.
Context statement
This position operates within the NT Government's IT infrastructure, requiring specialized expertise in ADABAS database
management and Natural programming to support critical business applications.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Oversee the management and maintenance of ADABAS databases, ensuring optimal performance, data integrity, and security.
2. Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot Natural applications using NatOne and SPod, ensuring the delivery of high-quality
software solutions.
3. Manage the upgrade process for Software AG products, including Natural, EntireX, and other related software, ensuring
minimal disruption and seamless integration with existing systems.
4. Monitor system performance and proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve issues related to ADABAS databases and Natural
applications, maintaining system efficiency and reliability.
5. Provide expert support for CICS online and batch processing environments, ensuring smooth and reliable operations and
addressing any issues that arise promptly and effectively.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated expertise in managing and maintaining ADABAS databases, including performance tuning and data integrity.
2. Experience in Natural programming and JCL using NatOne and SPod environments.
3. Experience in troubleshooting performance issues and the ability to diagnose and resolve performance issues related to
ADABAS and Natural applications.
4. Hands-on experience managing and troubleshooting Natural RPC servers on Mainframe z/OS systems.
5. Practical experience in upgrading Software AG products such as Natural, EntireX and CICS.
6. Skilled in handling CICS online and batch processing environments, ensuring efficient and reliable system operations.
7. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of being professional, accountable, honest, respectful
and innovative.
Desirable
1. ADABAS Event Replication and Target Adapter technologies, ensuring robust data synchronization and integration.
2. Understanding of REST/API technologies provided by Software AG, enhancing system integration capabilities.
