Adaptation Writer

We are seeking a talented and creative Adaptation Writer to join our team and help bring captivating stories from all over the world to Western audiences. As an Adaptation Writer, you will play a crucial role in transforming translated Webtoons and manga into engaging and culturally relevant content for our US audience.

Responsibilities:

● AI-Assisted Adaptation- Utilize our advanced AI tool to adapt and localize dialogues, text, and characters from translated East Asian Webtoons and manga.

● Fine-Tuning and Quality Control- Meticulously review and refine AI-generated content to

ensure accuracy, cultural sensitivity, and consistency with the original source material and target audience.

● Cultural Nuance- Maintain a deep understanding of both Eastern and Western cultures to

bridge the gap and deliver culturally appropriate adaptations.

● Character Development- Adapt characters to resonate with Western audiences while preserving

their core personalities and motivations.

● Collaboration- Work closely with lettering teams to ensure seamless integration of localized

dialogues into the comic panels.

● Quality Assurance- Conduct rigorous quality checks to identify and rectify any errors or inconsistencies in the adapted content.

● Deadline Adherence- Manage time effectively to meet project deadlines and maintain a high level of productivity.

Requirements:

● Language Proficiency- Strong command of the English language, particularly US dialects.

● Cultural Understanding- A deep understanding of both Eastern and Western cultures, including

social norms, humor, and references.

● Adaptation Skills- Proven ability to adapt and localize content while preserving the original intent and tone.

● Attention to Detail- Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and consistency.

● Creativity- A creative mindset to develop engaging and innovative adaptations.

● Problem-Solving- Strong problem-solving skills to overcome challenges and find creative solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s/ Master’s Degree in English Literature

● Keen interest and understanding of elements of comics such as dialogue bubble placement, sfx,

text flow, etc.

● Adequate familiarity with mainstream US-based comics

● A fair understanding of American pop culture in general, including their idioms, interpersonal

relationships, linguistic nuances, racial and religious sentiments, etc.

● Use of AI and prompt-building in the creative process.

● A passion for manga and anime.
