Primary objective
Deliver efficient, customer-focused frontline administrative services to support the operations of the Public Guardian and
Trustee (PGT). As the first point of contact for represented individuals and the general public, including people with
disabilities, this role requires strong interpersonal skills, patience and empathy. A sound understanding of guardianship and
public trustee functions would be advantageous for effective service delivery.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Deliver high quality frontline administrative services, including telephone call centre and front counter reception duties
to people who may have intellectual and communication disabilities and the general public.
2. Undertake general financial duties such as accounts payable, procurement, corporate credit card and travel including
the registration of Wills and Advance Personal Plans.
3. Maintain accurate records of client interactions within the organisation’s information management system (OPGIS),
ensuring the integrity of official client and office records.
4. Assist with the preparation of official correspondence for the Northern Territory Civil and Administration Tribunal
(NTCAT) and other stakeholders in relation to guardianship matters.
5. Adapt positively to change, demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
Uphold professionalism, cultural competence and compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
6. Adhere to defined service quality standards, workplace health and safety policies and procedures to ensure high quality,
safe service delivery and workplace practices.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Effective communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal) with demonstrated experience in delivering customer-
focused services to people from diverse backgrounds, including individuals with a disability and complex needs.
2. Proven experience in administrative and financial processes, with the ability to maintain accurate records and uphold
confidentiality.
3. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, effectively managing workloads, meeting deadlines and
demonstrating initiative and flexibility in response to changing priorities.
4. Proficiency in computer literacy, including the use of relevant software applications, records management and business
systems.
5. A strong work ethic and resilience, aligned with PGT’s core values of professionalism, accountability, honesty, respect,
and innovation.
Desirable
1. Understanding of guardianship, financial and estate administration or the ability to acquire this knowledge.
