Job Description
- Preparing objection decisions.
- Triaging and reviewing new objections, internal communications or updates from stakeholders.
- Liaising with taxpayers about their objection to ensure they receive a consistent and fair outcome to their objection.
- Conducting research on legislation, case law, published rulings and internal practices.
- Providing feedback and guidance within Review and Dispute Resolution and across QRO to improve administrative decision making.
The key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing clear, accurate and timely determination of objections against assessments and decisions made under legislation administered by the Commissioner of State Revenue.
- Research and proactively maintain a working knowledge of revenue law, commercial law and administrative law and practice.
- Foster and maintain positive working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including members of the public, Review and Dispute Resolution division team members, and colleagues across other divisions within QRO.
To be successful, you will need to demonstrate:
- High level of experience in statutory interpretation.
- High level of technical writing skills.
- Impeccable interpersonal skills.
