This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing, with the employment type to be determined in negotiation with the preferred candidate and the NIAA delegate.

Where a non-ongoing specified term is offered, this would be for an initial period of up to 12 months, with possibility of extension up to a maximum period of two years.

A non-ongoing offer may result in conversion to an ongoing offer of employment; however this must occur within 18 months from the opening date of this advertisement.

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an Administration Support Officer within the Education and Communications team. We manage communications; create and maintain publications in print and online; and coordinate and support learning activities.

This position is expected to support the team by:

managing stock control and distribution of educational materials for events and stakeholders

providing data entry and processing related to learning activities

planning, coordinating and managing learning activities (in-person and online) for people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporations.

The responsibilities of the role include:

identifying and engaging facilitators and venues

procuring and managing contracts for training materials, facilitators, venues and catering

assisting facilitators with logistics and travel

receiving and logging requests for training from external and internal sources

supporting participants to register for, attend and give feedback on training activities, including booking travel

creating webinars and workshops in virtual systems

preparing and issuing certificates of attendance

entering data from evaluations and feedback.

Our Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone with high level organisational skills and great attention to detail to support our team across all our functions, particularly managing our educational resources and assisting with our training activities. Experience with government procurement is essential, and skills in data entry and customer service will make you a strong candidate. We are looking for someone who is a good communicator and record keeper and demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills. You should have experience in MS Office suite - Excel, Teams and SharePoint in particular - and be willing to learn new systems and processes.

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate the following skills and attributes:

previous experience with government procurement

excellent data entry and processing skills

well-developed customer service and stakeholder engagement

strong written and communication skills as well as record keeping

sound working knowledge of MS Office suite - Particularly Excel, Teams and SharePoint

ability to adapt and learn new systems and processes

demonstrated capability and commitment to continue to develop cultural competency

ability to travel occasionally.

To be eligible for this position you must be an Australian Citizen.

The successful candidate will be required to be assessed through our pre-employment screening checks, such as an Australian Criminal History Check.
