Job Summary
The Team
The Child Care Policy - Indigenous team supports the broader Child Care Policy team by providing expert knowledge and collaborating with Indigenous partners on major initiatives like new child care spaces, the $10 a Day ChildCareBC program, and the Canada Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement. We ensure that all policy development aligns with the government's commitments to Indigenous peoples in BC. Our goal is to promote equity and eliminate barriers within child care and early learning.

The Role
The Indigenous Child Care Policy - Policy Analyst coordinates the research, analysis, and development of strategic policies for Indigenous early learning and child care. This role involves collaborating with ministry staff, Indigenous partners, and other stakeholders to develop and implement policy initiatives with a distinctions-based approach, including those under the Declaration Act Action Plan.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

A Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Sciences, Law, Economics, Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field. An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered.
A minimum of one (1) years' experience assisting with the development of policy or program initiatives through the development of legislation, regulations and/or policies or programs.
A minimum of one (1) years' experience providing recommendations and developing written materials for senior staff and/or executive.
Experience working in relationship with Indigenous governments, communities, and /or organizations.


Preference may be given to applicants who:

Have experience working with First Nations, Métis and Inuit people.
Have experience in the early child care and learning sector.
Additional years of experience in any of the above noted requirements.
Self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit.
Proviso:

About this Position:
Remote work is allowed. This position can work up to full time from their home in British Columbia subject to an approved telework agreement.
