The Opportunity
Due to business growth, we are looking for an dynamic and credible Adviser – Management Assurance to join our team on a permanent basis to support the business in embedding a culture of risk and compliance. The team sits in the Consumer Hub, working in the Customer Group to help the business apply Medibank’s Operational Risk and Compliance frameworks.

This role provides ‘first line of defence’ support to the business in managing its Risk and Compliance obligations. This will include provision of expert risk and compliance advice, facilitation of risk management, compliance and incident remediation activities and assessment of business controls.

Day to day this role will see you

Decide if your day is best spent working from home or the office (we don’t go for mandated office attendance days here at Medibank).
Provide the risk expertise required to assist the business to identify key risks and controls, and support development and maintenance of business unit risk profiles.
Conduct risk assessments and provide authoritative guidance and support to the business concerning risks and related matters.
Support the business to maintain compliance registers and databases, including control identification and action plan development.
Review and evaluate internal controls and supporting documentation to assess their design and effectiveness in managing risk and compliance obligations, including regular controls testing throughout the year.
Assist the business and provide advice to manage incidents (operational risk events including compliance/regulatory incidents) in line with Medibank’s incident management procedure and assist the business to identify the root cause of incidents to prevent further occurrences.
Taking time out to recharge – you might hit the pavement for a walking meeting with a colleague, pop out to a lunchtime gym class or take a mid morning meditation break.

What do we need from you?
First and foremost, you’ll need to have significant, demonstrated experience working in an Assurance role focussing on risk management and compliance. You will have the confidence and credibility to provide advice to and influence senior stakeholders concerning risk, compliance and internal controls. We are a highly regulated environment, so if you have developed your experience within similar regulated organisation/s this will be very highly regarded.

You’ll be conscientious and able to manage having multiple pieces of work and stakeholder needs at any one time and be comfortable working autonomously in doing this. Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills are also essential for success.
