About the Role
As an Advisor (Mental Health and Community Health), Population Health, you will be responsible for providing planning, implementation support and advice to enable a strong Smokefree focus in Mental Health and Community Health settings. The position has a particular focus on:
enabling and building capacity within Mental Health and Community Health settings to achieve and sustain the Smokefree ABC, and to improve the rate of cessation support by coordinating implementation of the Mental Health and Community Health Smokefree plans.
reducing the persistent population health inequities that are associated with high smoking prevalence rates in Counties Manukau by taking a population health and holistic wellbeing approach that is responsive and client/ whanau-led
This position is a permanent full-time role which will also manage a small caseload as part of Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau stop smoking service and will be responsible for providing evidence-based smoking cessation support and addressing holistic wellbeing needs (integrating with wraparound support services) for clients in the Mental Health and Community Health setting that are referred to the Smokefree Service.

About you
You are experienced in population health, health education, or a similar, with a passion for smoking cessation and holistic wellbeing. You have experience of working with groups and/ or individuals in an education/advisory role in a health care setting. You are an excellent communicator who can build relationships with ease.
Recognised Health degree
Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action
Experience working with people in a caring or supporting role
Knowledge of smokefree issues and their relation to individual, whānau and population health
Clean NZ Driver Licence
Willingness to travel across the region
