We're looking for a Risk and Assurance Advisor to help embed risk management practices in a newly formed group within MBIE, turning them into a cornerstone of strategic thinking and operational excellence - not just compliance!

As a trusted advisor, you'll play a key role in strengthening MBIE's ability to deliver on its mission by enhancing how we manage risk and conduct assurance. You'll be instrumental in shaping a proactive, informed approach to risk that supports MBIEs corporate functions, critical ICT service delivery and broader organisational outcomes.



Where you'll work



The position reports into the Manager Group Risk and Assurance within the Planning Risk and Assurance Team. This is part of the Corporate and Digital Shared Services (CDSS) Group-a large, complex group responsible for MBIE's ICT, project and programme management, data analytics, finance, people and culture, and workplace health and safety functions.

Demonstrated experience supporting complex risk management or assurance activities-such as risk reviews, control testing, or audit processes-within structured frameworks.
Able to manage multiple priorities and workstreams effectively, with a focus on delivering high-quality outcomes on time and within scope
The ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Comfortable working in dynamic environments. Able to assess situations, make informed decisions with limited information, and adapt to shifting priorities or emerging risks.
Takes initiative and ownership of tasks, with a focus on continuous improvement and delivering value. Skilled at balancing competing demands and working independently when needed.
Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
