Job Title Advisor, System Engineering What does a successful Advisor, Splunk Engineering(Administration do at Fiserv?: The Fiserv Observability team is building solutions that improve visibility into the customer generated traffic across thousands of services. We are on an exciting journey to improve observability of all services and improve the customer experience by using the data. As a Logging Engineer you will have the opportunity to work on products that improve availability, enable peak readiness and positively impact every service across Fiserv. You will partner with several teams across Fiserv to develop observability solutions, deliver data stream processing, and enable automated recovery. As a technical Splunk Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to manage the complex challenges of scale within a logging and metrics environment, while using your expertise in development, complexity analysis and large-scale system design. The engineer must adopt and support a culture of diversity, intellectual curiosity, problem solving and openness. What you will do: Designing, implementing & support scalable and robust Splunk architectures on large scale to support 80 TB data ingestion. Integrating Splunk with various DevOps tools and platforms such as CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, configuration management systems, and more. Setting up robust monitoring and alerting mechanisms within Splunk to proactively identify and address issues. Identify areas for improvement through automation and scripting to enhance system reliability. Perform after-action reports and root-cause analysis reviews with the architecture and engineering team. Build a Splunk Hygiene Program that focuses on optimal searches and Splunk configuration best practices. Developing automation scripts and tools to streamline Splunk deployments, configurations, and maintenance tasks. Troubleshoot and resolve system and application issues to maintain optimal performance in hybrid environments. Identify areas for improvement through automation and scripting to enhance system reliability. Ensuring that Splunk implementations adhere to best practices in terms of security, performance, and reliability. Collaborating with cross-functional teams including developers, operations, security, and business stakeholders to ensure Splunk meets organizational needs. What you will need to have: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field Splunk - 5 to 8 (Negotiatable) Experience with Splunk premium products a plus – ES, ITSI, UBA, MLTK, etc. Splunk query, reporting, and dashboard skills with particular emphasis on reporting on infrastructure and application performance and capacity Splunk administration skills in an enterprise environment ingesting >80TB daily Splunk SmartStore (configuration, support, and implementation) is highly desired Experience administering a mid - large scale Splunk deployment(s) Experience engineering and maintaining the enterprise strategic implementation of Splunk deployments highly preferred Hands on experience in troubleshooting environments across the entire architecture (i.e. applications to infrastructure) Ansible - 3 to 5 Experience with Ansible automation tool Linux - 3 to 5 Experience with Linux OS (basic commands) & troubleshooting Cloud - 3 to 5 (Azure/AWS) What would be great to have: Master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field Hands-on Experience with Gitlab Hands-on Experience with Terraform Hands-on Experience with Shell Scripting Thank you for considering employment with Fiserv.
