Reports to the: Chief Executive Officer

Contribution to Central Panhandle Association of REALTORS®: The primary contribution of the Advocacy and Events Coordinator is to manage the association's local governmental affairs and fundraising activities as well as support the planning and coordination of various CPAR events.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

RPAC Coordination & Fundraising

• Serve as liaison to the RPAC Committee, providing reports on RPAC activities, working with the chair to conduct meetings, and ensuring timely posting of meeting notices, minutes, and agendas.

• Plan, coordinate, and manage all RPAC events and fundraising strategies.

• Develop and execute RPAC fundraising campaigns and ensure compliance with state and federal election and lobbying laws.

• Maintain organized records of all RPAC receipts and disbursements, manage the disbursement of all RPAC contributions, handle RPAC correspondence, and produce internal RPAC reports and analyses.

• Attend local, state, and national political events, fundraisers, and RPAC events as directed by the CEO.

• Support Calls for Action, write grants to utilize Realtor Party initiatives, and encourage participation in the Broker Involvement program.

• Help organize CPAR voter registration drives.

• Maintain a working relationship with Florida Realtors GAD.

• Build local relationships to assist in furthering issue priorities.

Governmental Affairs & Advocacy

• Serve as the liaison to the Governmental Affairs Committee, working with the chair to conduct meetings, and ensuring timely posting of meeting notices, minutes, and agendas.

• Monitor legislative, regulatory, and business trends impacting the association.

• Maintain a broad understanding of federal, state, and local political issues affecting the real estate profession.

• Assist the association in determining positions on public policy and private property rights, and promote these positions to various governmental bodies.

• Based on issue priorities, assist the CEO with advocacy efforts at the local level, working with lawmakers and regulators to monitor and educate them on association positions.

• Attend or review agendas of City and County Council Meetings that CPAR services and prepare summaries of issues that might affect the industry.

• Organize the association’s candidate screening and forums for local and state candidates, including all administrative duties.

• Assist the CEO or Board of Directors with issue and position information for public speaking engagements, presentations, media interviews, and articles for publication.

• Educate the public and association members on issues affecting private property rights and encourage involvement.

• Write articles for the newsletter, blog, website, and other communication vehicles to educate association membership about advocacy efforts and supported candidates.

• Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, officials, and other professional organizations to advocate for association issues.

• Work with other organizations as needed to promote local issues we are in support of

Committee & Event Management

• Assists in the planning and execution of the Quarterly Membership Meetings

• Assist in planning and coordinating events sponsored by the association.

• Perform any other tasks as directed by the CEO.

Knowledge/Education Requirements

• Must be proficient in Word, Excel and Power Point.

• Must have excellent phone skills and manners.

• Must be able to work under pressure handle multiple tasks at one time.

· Must be highly organized and detail oriented

• Ability to take complicated information and communicate it simply.

• Must possess knowledge and interested of local political climate

• Knowledge and experience of the real estate industry and member organizations a plus.
