Position Overview
Whittier Kids Teachers collaborate with their teams to provide a fun, caring, and engaging community for school-age kids, both after school and during school breaks. This part-time position averages 23.75 hours per week during the school year and 32.5 hours during school breaks. Starting pay ranges from $20.76 - $22.00 per hour, depending on experience. Top candidates will demonstrate enthusiasm for planning and facilitating engaging activities for kids from Kindergarten through 5th Grade.
Essential Responsibilities
· Work with a team to plan and facilitate a variety of fun and meaningful activities
· Ensure a safe and fun environment through active supervision and intentional engagement
· Maintain DCYF child care licensing standards, including sanitizing equipment and materials as needed
· Participate with team in daily program set-up and take down tasks, including light cleaning
· Attend regular staff meetings and complete required trainings
· Support SEL curriculum through incorporating practices that encourage the development of social emotional skills
Qualifications
· High School diploma is required; College degree with Early Childhood Education (ECE) credits is preferred
· Experience with working with school age children
• Ability to pass a national criminal background check
• Ability to meet child care licensing requirements, including a TB test, documentation of immunizations and CPR/First Aid training
Compensation
During the school year, this is a 23.75 hour per week position, with a typical schedule of 1:20-6:00pm (1:00-6:00 pm on Wednesdays). Weekly hours may increase during school breaks and summer. The pay rate is $20.76-$22.00 per hour, depending on experience. Benefits include three weeks personal time off the first year, increasing annually, eight paid holidays and the week of December 24-January 1 off.
