Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction in children's after-school classes. We currently have an opening for an instructor in South Salem on Wednesday afternoons.
-Teach from our detailed lesson plans, or you may develop your own plans that are aligned with the specific description of the class you are leading.
- Create a positive and engaging classroom environment that fosters student learning and growth.
-Excellent attendance and punctuality.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with children between the ages of 5 and 10 years preferred.
- Interest in teaching art classes with varied materials.
-Willingness to learn new techniques. We will gladly train you in any technique you need to learn to be prepared for class.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively manage student behavior and maintain a positive learning environment.
-Your own reliable transportation allowing you to commute to the job site and carry the necessary supplies. We deliver supplies to you in advance of class.
-Must be available during afterschool hours. The exact timing varies by school. The South Salem classes will run from 3:45-4:45PM. You must be able to arrive at the school 10-15 minutes ahead to park, clear security, etc.
-The class in South Salem focuses on simple STEAM projects for grades K-2. This may include cardboard marble runs, small cars, paper architecture. You will be shown how to put together the projects and demonstrate them effectively for students.
-The pay of $70-$75 per hour is for the contact time during class. You will have to spend some extra time familiarizing yourself with the lesson before class and making sure the room is clean afterward. We work to minimize your prep/cleanup time as much as possible.
We are seeking dedicated individuals who are committed to providing hands-on, project-based learning to our students. If you have experience working with children, possess strong communication skills, and love teaching art or STEAM activities, we encourage you to apply.
