Challenge Island is looking for fun, smart, and enthusiastic instructors to join our team! We are a high-energy Science/Engineering enrichment program with a distinct island flair. Imagine Survivor meets Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader—that’s the vibe of our classroom!
This position is ideal for college or graduate students, retired teachers, and stay-at-home parents looking for a rewarding way to supplement their income while making a real impact on children's lives.
What We Offer
Comprehensive Training: We’ll train you in our unique program and teaching philosophy.
Turnkey Lessons: All supplies and exciting lesson plans are provided. You focus on the fun and the teaching!
High Pay for Short Sessions: Earn $50–$60 per class (typically about an hour of instruction plus setup/cleanup).
A Rewarding Environment: Join a highly selective team of "Tribal Leaders" in a creative, positive atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
Lead & Engage: Supervise children in educational STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities.
Implement Lessons: Deliver pre-planned, hands-on lessons that promote critical thinking and development.
Classroom Management: Foster a safe, positive, and organized environment for all participants.
Safety First: Ensure the well-being of all students by following safety protocols and maintaining a watchful eye.
Schedule & Location
Hours: 2 to 7 hours per week.
Availability: Must be available between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM at least 2 days per week.
Locations: Local elementary schools across North Tampa, Carrollwood, Wesley Chapel, Lutz, and Land O’ Lakes.
Job Requirements
Teaching Experience: Prior experience teaching preschool or elementary-age children is required.
Passion: A genuine love for educating children and sparking their curiosity.
Reliability: Must have your own reliable transportation.
Proximity: Must live within 15 miles of our service areas (Carrollwood, Wesley Chapel, Lutz, Land O' Lakes).
Compliance: Must be able to pass a comprehensive Criminal Background Check with the school system.
