About the Role
We currently have a permanent fulltime (1.0FTE) Allied Health Assistant position available within the Early Discharge and Rehabilitation Service. EDARS serves the whole of the Waitematā community including North Shore, Waitakere and Rodney. This exciting service focuses on providing rehabilitation to adults within Waitematā and is committed to providing the best care for everyone.
This role involves working in interdisciplinary team, supporting and assisting Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Therapists, a Dietitian, a Social Worker, a Clinical Psychologist and a Registered Nurse. You will be carrying out prescribed rehabilitation programmes with patients, in their homes or in the outpatient gym, under the guidance of the inter-disciplinary team. These programmes will be individual to the patient and will be focused on the patient’s goals. These programmes may include supporting patients with exercises or activities to improve their day to day function, independence and communication. Some of the things you may support a patient to do are to make their lunch by themselves again, do balance and strength exercises, catch the bus to their local shops or have a supported conversation on the phone; to name a few!
We are seeking a dedicated, honest, hard-working and reliable individual who has previous experience within a healthcare environment and working as part of a team. You must have excellent communication skills, strong time management and be proactive in your approach. You also require a current full NZ Driver’s License.
About the Team/Service/ Location
EDARS is an interdisciplinary team providing intensive rehabilitation for people in their homes following an acute medical event and hospital admission, such as a Stroke, amputation or people needing reconditioning following a medical illness. We work with adults of all ages, providing goal-based rehabilitation 3-5 times per week depending on the patients’ needs.
As an EDARS Allied Health Assistant you require:
Previous experience working in health - preferably in rehabilitation
A full drivers license
Working at Health New Zealand
