Details: ACT Corrective Services (ACTCS) is seeking applications from highly motivated and experienced people to join the Offender Reintegration team as an Allied Health Assistant Level 2/3.
Allied Health Assistants (AHAs) foster a collaborative approach to providing psychosocial support to male and female detainees in custody at the Alexander Maconochie Centre (AMC) with disability, aging, mental health and other complex needs.
The successful applicant will work closely with other health professionals within the team to actively encourage, empower, and support psychosocial therapeutic goals of detainees through direct individual and group interactions.
In addition, you will assist detainees with complex needs to access services within the AMC, including but not limited to prompting, reminding, and providing activity support.
Further to this, you will support individuals to achieve optimal levels of independent functioning, by assisting, encouraging, and enabling them to achieve goals of independent living.
To be successful you will be able to demonstrate experience, knowledge, and skills to deliver Allied Health Assistance in rehabilitation and providing psychosocial supports for vulnerable cohorts.
You will also be able to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team under close direction, as well as work independently as required and appropriate.

Eligibility/Other requirements:
Compliance Requirements/Qualifications
Qualifications in a relevant health or allied health discipline is mandatory. A minimum of 12 months paid employment in a related role and/or setting is mandatory.
As relevant to the applicant’s discipline, relevant qualifications may include:
Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance
Certificate IV in Community Services
Certificate IV in Disability
Certificate IV in Mental Health
Equivalent qualifications in other allied health fields may also be accepted.
Additionally:
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a criminal record check
Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP). Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. To be eligible for permanent or temporary employment within the ACT Public Service (ACTPS) you must be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or hold a valid work visa.
If an officer no longer holds a visa that permits them to work in Australia, their employment with the ACT Public Service (ACTPS) will be terminated.
