1 x Permanent position 32-40 hours per week
Make a difference in the lives and wellbeing of our wider community!
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.
About the Role
The role involves working alongside other Allied Health team members to plan and provide patient-centred rehabilitation to our community across the continuum of care from in-reaching into the hospital and supporting them in their own homes.
Within this position, you will support the discharge of appropriate patients from Southland Hospital. You will work under the direction and delegation of a registered health professional to provide services in both an inpatient setting and the patient’s home.
About you
You will be experienced in the field of rehabilitation and will have a natural empathy for the people. You will have a sense of humour and innate ability to motivate others that will provide a positive impact for our patients and clients.
To be successful in this role, you will also need to demonstrate the following:
Have previous knowledge/experience of rehabilitation exercises, including a knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
Ability to work autonomously and have an appropriate level of fitness.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including a high level of verbal and written skills.
Clean and full, class one driver’s license.
Highly adaptable and flexible to change.
Working at Health New Zealand
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand. We embrace a workforce that is diverse and inclusive so that we are better positioned to understand and service our community. We welcome applications from our diverse Māori, Pacific, disabled, and rainbow communities.
Why Southern?
Invercargill gives you everything you’d want from a city hospital, with a modern work environment, interesting work and a range of specialties, but there’s a small hospital with collegial feel to it. You’ll be on first-name terms with all the staff, including the doctors. Invercargill is a lovely city for families, with affordable housing and excellent education and adventure opportunities. Surrounded by beautiful scenery many of New Zealand’s major tourist destinations, (ski fields, national parks, vineyards) and hidden treasures are on Southlands doorstep. Life is easy without a major commute. And you’ll get free onsite parking. Check out: https://southlandnz.com/invercargill.
