Skilled Tradesperson

There is an opening for a full-time permanent Skilled Maintenance Trade Person at the Facilities/Maintenance Building, in Seaforth.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager at the Education Centre corporate office in Seaforth, Ontario, the incumbent skilled tradesperson will be responsible to perform maintenance duties in a safe and productive manner.

Hours of Work: 6:00 am to 2:30pm, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

Start Date: As soon as reasonably possible following the posting procedures

Compensation Package:

Rate of Pay: $30.27-$33.14, as per Licensed Trades grid of UNIFOR Collective Agreement

Pension Plan: Defined pension plan through the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System ()

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Clean, lubricate, repair or replace equipment as required for efficient and safe operation
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and detailed repair drawings related to building equipment
Procuring required parts and inventory and cost control
Assess and report on board asset conditions
Respond to after hour emergency calls
Perform other general property and building maintenance as required


Qualifications and Competencies:

Valid Ontario driver's license with a clean driving record
Strong mechanical aptitude. Must be able to follow a problem to the source and solve the issue
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Initiative and ability to work well independently as well as in a team environment
Willing to obtain additional training and certificates in related fields
Five years of experience working in a large commercial, industrial or institutional setting.
Valid Ontario certificate of qualification in one or more of the following:
Certified and Registered Journeyperson Plumber
Certified and Registered Journeyperson Electrician
