Primary objective
Employ subject matter expertise to screen Territory Security referrals. Complete assessments and other products for
presentation at and contribution to the multi-disciplinary decision-making panel (POINTSS).
Context statement
The Analyst reports to the Countering Violent Extremism Capability Manager. This temporary position will screen the
relevance and support assessments for referrals to the Security Intelligence and Countering Violent Extremism Units.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Conduct screening assessments for section referrals.
2. Collect, collate and analyse information to inform assessments.
3. Contribute to decision-making on triage and engagement through participation in multi-disciplinary panels.
4. Conduct historical file reviews (for program suitability assessment).
5. Maintain contemporary understanding of the security threat landscape, particularly in relation to violent extremism and
fixated threats.
6. Assist the broader team in analysis of information with a nexus to violent extremism.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience delivering intelligence products including risk assessments and analytical reports.
2. Extensive knowledge of social media platforms, search engines and Microsoft Office applications.
3. Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced and complex risk environments.
4. High-level research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in relevant field.
2. An understanding of violent extremism, including contemporary approaches in countering violent extremism.
