Role Purpose
HSBC's Markets and Securities Services (MSS) business is one of the largest of its kind in the world. It combines sophisticated 24-hour global coverage with a detailed knowledge of local markets. The services are offered through a network of 87 treasury sites in more than 60 countries and territories worldwide. The trading and sales forces attend to customers that include the world's central banks, international and local corporations, institutional investors, financial institutions and other market participants. MSS specializes in foreign exchange, credits and rates, structured derivatives, equities and debt, equity and equity-linked capital markets.
The Markets and Securities Services NFR is an extension of the Markets and Securities Services COO Office, and the Office will partner with business management in the embedding, remediation and improvement of the control environment in respect of key risks to the Markets and Securities Services businesses, including the testing and assurance requirements of the Group Operational Risk Management Framework. The office will deliver on control related priorities in a well-organized, effective, and collaborative manner.
The Opportunity:
The potential candidate will be required to act as a central point of contact for administration and maintenance of Letters of Authority on the GALS 2 (Global Authority Letter System), be involved in the maintenance and administration of FOS (Front Office Supervisory) Hierarchy and support DEER (Daily Evidencing and Escalation Reporting) system. The potential candidate would be involved in performing key control and MI reports in addition to Supervisory hierarchy maintenance of Front Office staff and DEER. This data would also feed into various Governance forums to enable informed decision making and the candidate would be required to support several ongoing remediation work streams to ensure internal/external deadlines are met.
At a high level, the role holder will be responsible for the following:
Perform BAU activities for GALS / FOS Hierarchy Administration which would involve data extracts / uploads from HMS, People Insight and other systems into FOS / GALS / DEER systems.
Handle queries on the GALS / FOS and DEER systems as well as data.
Carry out multiple Control and MI reports which feeds into Governance forums
Ensure that the data in GALS is seamlessly linking with FOS Hierarchy in HMS and is accurate
Providing first line support to users of Front Office Supervision Tools such as GALS and DEER.
Requirements
Excellent communication skills.
Reasonable understanding of Financial Markets products.
Experience of working in Risk and control, Information Security or Regulatory Compliance teams.
Ability to perform various Control and MI reports which feeds into Governance forums.
Demonstrated ability to work with multiple onshore stakeholders and manage their expectations
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in related field such as business, finance, law or equivalent experience; Master’s degree preferred.
Ability to interact in a professional manner at all levels in the organization incl Markets senior management community – Global Product Heads, Country Balance Sheet Heads and the GM Chief Control Officer and associated resources.
Additional skills
Requires understanding of the changing risk and controls landscape within Global Markets.
Ability to manage conflicting priorities effectively and proven ability to meet challenging deadlines
Ability to exercise discretion, work independently within broad guidelines, tactfully handle sensitive and confidential data and complete assignments timely.
Experience utilizing key analytics tools preferred.
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
