ABOUT THE TEAM
The SMA Operations Department is comprised of functional teams focusing on trade settlements, corporate actions, portfolio reconciliation, data operations, and other tasks that support Parametric’s separately managed portfolios. The team is globally distributed, with staff located in Seattle, Minneapolis, Boston, Alpharetta, Singapore, and India. Associates work closely with portfolio managers, traders, product, sales and distribution, and other teams to ensure that client portfolios are managed in accordance to best practices and existing service level agreements.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Responsible for operational support of Parametric’s Equity SMA Operations department. Functional responsibility could include portfolio reconciliation, corporate action processing, data operations, trade settlements.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
– Reconciling internal portfolio accounting data to external data delivered by custodians. Data elements include positions, cash, transactions, and tax lots. Tasks to include processing data, reviewing exceptions, understanding root causes, working towards resolution, and escalating as appropriate.
– Support data operations tasks, including updating systems and databases including new security set up and maintenance, managing exceptions and updating pricing or other security related information
– Support the posting of mandatory corporate actions to update internal portfolio accounting data, including stock splits, cash dividends, stock dividends, acquisitions, and other events. Understand lifecycle of these events, data flow from vendors, and support current and future dated events.
– Understand the posting of voluntary corporate action events, to allow for adjustments to portfolio accounting data as necessary to reconcile portfolios.
– Support data operations tasks, including updating systems and databases with security information, prices, etc.
– Work to resolve trade settlement exceptions as required, including pre-matching, and settlement exceptions based on custodian and broker data.
– Running data reports and queries, comparing data and reviewing exceptions across operations functions.
QUALIFICATIONS
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
SKILL SET
– Required Experience: 1+ years in the asset management industry or a similar position
– Bachelor’s Degree (4-year degree), preferably in related discipline such as economics, finance, or marketing; work experience and education combination in lieu of degree will be considered.
– Ability to work independently under tight deadlines and effectively manage multiple tasks.
– Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to deliver clear, effective communication and takes responsibility for understanding others.
– Displays high attention to detail, accuracy, thoroughness and thoughtfulness. Commitment to meeting identified quality and efficiency standards.
GOOD TO HAVE SKILLS
– Experience working with portfolio reconciliation, corporate action, data operations, and trade settlements preferred.
– Knowledge of APX, Omgeo Alert, Omgeo CTM, Markit CA SaaS, Markit EDM and SWIFT messaging preferred.
