Android Developer
Hybrid – 1 week onsite, followed by 2 weeks offsite
Up to £70,000
Please note that this Android Developer role requires you to be British from birth to go through the SC clearance process.
An experienced Android Developer is required for a highly impactful project supporting a major defence organisation. This role involves building secure, robust Android applications used in mission-critical environments, working as part of a cross-functional Agile team on a sensitive UK Government programme.
You’ll play a key role in designing and developing Android solutions using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and Room Database, contributing to an initiative that directly supports nationwide security and operational efficiency. This is a fantastic opportunity to apply modern mobile development practices in a unique and meaningful context.
As an Android Developer, you’ll take part in sprint planning and estimation, actively contribute to architectural decisions, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the software meets strict functional and security requirements. You'll also participate in code reviews and help drive forward best practices across the team.
Key Skills & Experience Required:
• Strong experience in Android development with Kotlin
• Proficient with Jetpack Compose and Room Database
• Confident working independently and challenging requirements when needed
• Experience with Agile methodologies, Git, JIRA, and Confluence
• Knowledge of Retrofit, OkHttp, and MVVM is a plus
• Bonus points for experience with cryptography, secure data storage, or device management tools such as Samsung Knox or Device Policy Manager
Depending on your level of experience, they are offering a salary of £50,000 - £70,000 plus benefits, and hybrid working with one week out of every three weeks in Hereford.
This Android Developer role requires active SC Clearance, or you must be British from birth to go through the SC Clearance process.
