Job Description
This position involves scientific development of IDEAS, a proprietary dynamic process simulator owned by Andritz. IDEAS is used for steady state and dynamic simulation of industrial processes such as Pulp & Paper, Oil sands, Power and Mineral Processing Industries. The job responsibilities entail the following.
• Development, enhancement, and maintenance of the IDEAS process simulation software.
• Create mathematical models based on transport phenomena, reaction engineering and thermodynamics suitable for plant wide modelling of industrial process.
• Develop algorithms and software programs for solving the process models.
• Consult with process and R&D engineers and transfer process knowledge into mathematical models that can be run with the IDEAS process simulator.
• Provide software support to project staff.
• Support business development efforts by providing clients with technical presentations and cost estimates.
• Travel (up to 10%) to support software and model delivery.
Education and Experience:
• M. S. or Ph. D in Chemical Engineering with process modelling and simulation experience.
• 2+ years of industrial simulation experience is preferred. However, applications from fresh graduates with theory/modelling/simulation experience will be considered.
• Strong scientific computational skills with highly demonstrable experience in C/C++ programming.
• Knowledge of industrial chemical process simulator will be an advantage.
• Experience in optimization, machine learning and data science will be an advantage.
• Excellent technical writing and technical presentation skills are essential
