Android Engineer (0-2yrs) - NIRA
NIRA is a consumer finance company for the mass middle population of India. Our first product is credit. Today, we receive 10000 new loan applications daily from across 4000 cities in India, and we are growing 25% MoM. People reach us at their time of need, and we offer them a credit limit via our app. Money reaches their bank account within 24 hrs of application.
We have had a strong performance during Covid and with our strong product-market fit, we are set to embark on our next phase of growth.
After scaling our first credit product which is now only six months away from profitability, we are also releasing our second product.
As the second Android Engineer on the team, you’ll co-own the in-app experience of our growing customer base of 5m+ Indians. In addition, you’ll own the timely delivery of new improvements, features and experiences in the app.
You’ll work directly with the founders and share the responsibility to ensure a seamless digital experience for NIRA's customers across multiple facets of a customer's loan journey including on-boarding, credit decisions, interfaces with our lending partners, repayments, referrals & repeat loan applications.
Roles & responsibilities:
• Work on our Android application with focus on simplicity and performance
• Deep dive into performance, resource management, and stability
• Collaborate extensively with team members from back-end, design and product
• Actively participate in product decisions
• Build new financial products inside our existing or new app
Skills & Qualifications:
Expert in Android, Core Java, Google Play Services;
Experience with Play Store Release management, Debugging live apps;
Experience with Memory Optimizations and resolving ANRs
Expert in effective Android concurrency: Threads, Handlers, Futures, RxJava etc;
Solid understanding of GUI architecture like MVP, MVVM
Knowledge of the latest developments in Android like - Material Design, Kotlin, RxJava, Firebase, Room etc;
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Experience with mobile analytics
Well versed with REST APIs
Focus on writing reader friendly code
Understanding of Android design principles
Years of experience:

Our Tech Stack
The primary interface for our 40000+ daily active users is our Android app written in Java. On the backend we have 100+ microservices with serverless deployment that handle the entire user services and workflow management from onboarding, data collection, decision engine, document processing, disbursals and collections. This is complemented with an internal nodeJS application for Operations workflow management. Our data science modules & decision engines are written in Python and deployed over serverless architecture as well. We have dynamoDB as our primary database, and AWS Glue based ETL architecture for our secondary database. Querying on secondary database is via Athena
