Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities
Assist anesthesiologists in the surgical and clinical care setting with routine to complex procedures before, during and after anesthesia
Prepare and calibrate equipment and verify proper working order of equipment prior to procedures
Perform complex troubleshooting of anesthesia equipment and ensures daily adequate supply of reserve oxygen, air and nitrous oxide
Prepare and set up IV solution/lines
Assist anesthesiologists with procedures by passing supplies, instruments, lines and assist with intubation and insertion of invasive monitoring lines
Meet with sales representatives from medical supply vendors
Order anesthesia supplies and equipment and ensure all anesthesia areas are well-stocked
Assist with orientation of monthly anesthesia residents and fellows to the department
Required Skills/Abilities
High school graduate or equivalent required
Requires knowledge of basic anatomy, biology, chemistry, pharmacology, and surgical instrumentation
Knowledge of principles of asepsis and sterile technique with basic operating room technique and standards
Pediatric experience required
One year of experience
BLS Certification
