Position Summary
The APAC Social Finance Specialist position at the Citi Social Finance Group (CSFG) has primary responsibilities for developing and participating in collaborative in-country relationship management and product teams that will deliver effective solutions that expand Citi’s role in the financial and economic inclusion of under banked segments in key markets of Asia and the Pacific region. With a focus in financial institution clients, corporate supply and distribution chains as well as social enterprises and inclusive fintech companies, this role will collaborate across businesses and in-country teams to provide profitable social finance and inclusive business to Citi that contribute to the bank’s Sustainability Goals, by developing partnerships primarily with premium ICG and commercial bank clients.
POSITION OBJECTIVES
This position will serve as a resource to the Country management and specifically the public sector, financial institutions corporate relationships, commercial banking clients, and TTS as well as Markets product teams, for consultation, and recommendations on social finance and financial inclusion issues. This position will directly support and initiate inclusive finance funding solutions, develop new products and channels for the bank with the appropriate internal groups and with government agencies and Development Finance Institutions (DFIs). Additionally, this role will support relationship managers for corporate local and global clients within each country; in order to deliver innovative and inclusive solutions to reach the revenue goals of the CSFG.
Job Responsibilities
• Supports the CSFG global strategy to execute and monitor transactions with Social Finacne clients in APAC
• Builds pipeline with existing clients as part of the global inclusive finance risk programs and platforms and in collaboration with local relationship teams.
• Expands and deepens Citi’s partnerships in the area across Emerging Market geographies with particular emphasis in India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines and Bangladesh as well as specific opportunities in China.
• Maintains continuing client contact to build and maintain knowledge of client needs.
• Collaborates effectively with internal country management and external clients to identify holistic and at times complex inclusive solutions for clients.
• Makes recommendations to management regarding new opportunities such as programs and/or products and services to maximize revenue potential.
• Visits key markets to evaluate inclusive relationships and other partnerships. Identifies new prospective programs with existing or new clients.
Skills Required
• +10 y ears of experience in development finance in Emerging Markets
• Deep knowledge of developmental finance and Agency financing structures in APAC
• Relevant experience on Structure Credit and Capital Markets, preferably with Social Finance objectives
• Understanding of key actors working on inclusive value chain finance in the region
• Financial institutions relationship and credit management experience
• Understanding of emerging digital and fintech models targeting the base of the income pyramid
• Excellent organizational and sales skills and attention to detail
• Ability to balance multiple priorities
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
• Excellent and effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work successfully with in a client focused, consultative work environment
• Strong project management skills
Experience/Training
• A bachelor degree and at least masters in business related field or work equivalent
• Ten years of portfolio management experience with financial institutions, Development Finance Institutions and corporations
• Excellent understanding of products and services applicable to the Social Finance client group
• Exposure to financial inclusion dynamics including new technologies, channels and intermediaries.
• Solid understanding of analysis of various types of Financial Institutions credit is required and experience working with Microfinance and Social/Development Finance networks on structuring credit and product programs
• Extensive travel to various Citi locations required
• Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
• Master's degree preferred
