Full job description

This position is responsible for supporting the functions of accounting relating to accounts receivable and accounts payable. The A/R A/P Accountant works directly with the Controller, other accountants, SEE departments, and the projects on a weekly basis as it relates to income received and processing of payments. Ensuring financial transactions are properly and accurately recorded is critical for this role and plays a significant role in the organization. This is a Hybrid position Monday through Friday with hours of 8am PT to 4:30pm PT., with one day onsite in the Calabasas CA office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Accounts Receivable

· Assist with weekly processing of Accounts Receivable

· Create and review check upload in Excel for integration with accounting software weekly

· Upload check spreadsheet to integrate with accounting software weekly

· Download ACH income from bank account to assign each transaction to restricted accounts and create Excel upload for integration with accounting software

· Review and upload ACH income spreadsheet to ensure accuracy of details weekly

· Work with Administrative staff weekly to identify income to restricted accounts when the information is not provided by the donor in order to classify the income

Accounts Payable

· Assist weekly processing of Accounts Payable

· Review payment requests submitted by fiscally sponsored projects to ensure documentation is provided

· Review payment requests to vendors to ensure they are submitted thoroughly and align with internal contract requirements

· Create and review check, ACH and wire batch uploads in Excel and upload into accounting software

· Enter and review ACH and wire transactions into bank portal weekly

· Review, update and verify bank details of payees in bank portal system

· Enter new payees into accounting software and bank portal as needed

· Assist with ensuring ACH and check returns are addressed, coded and accurately accounted for in accounting software

Other Duties

· Assist with updating and review of Smartsheet daily/weekly to reflect new incoming funds with restricted account assigned

· Assist with monthly calculation of fiscal fees applied to all projects for monthly income

· Accurate record keeping on a regular basis

· Provide accounting duties as needed by the organization and projects

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Familiarity with non-profit structures, practices and organizational cultures

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral

· Accuracy and attention to detail is absolutely required, as well as a track record of reliability, confidentiality, and conscientious work habits

· Ability to work independently with little supervision

· Ability to organize and prioritize effectively

· Ability to adapt and work efficiently in a rapidly changing dynamic environment with deadline pressures

Education and Experience

· Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent experience

· Minimum three years relevant experience

· Knowledge of GAAP

· Use of common bookkeeping software a plus

· Experience in Microsoft Office with intermediate to advanced skill level in Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint

· Demonstrated ability in dealing directly with clients

· Interest in social and environmental justice a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $66,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
