Job Description
Join our dynamic team as an Apparel Merchandiser / Merchandise Planner for Thread & Supply, where you'll play a key role in driving product development, merchandising strategies, and inventory management. Reporting directly to the Director of Product Development, this position combines creativity, strategic planning, and analytical insight to ensure that our apparel lines meet customer demand while maximizing profitability.
This role works cross-functionally with design, sales, marketing, production, and sourcing teams, as well as with vendors and manufacturers, to execute seasonal product lines from concept through delivery. Your proactive approach and analytical expertise will help shape product assortments, optimize supply chain operations, and elevate the overall customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development & Merchandising
• Support the development and execution of seasonal apparel collections in collaboration with design and product development teams.
• Assist in the selection and coordination of fabrics, trims, colors, and styles consistent with brand standards.
• Maintain accurate product information, including style details, pricing, materials, and specifications.
• Prepare line sheets, product catalogs, and merchandising materials.
• Monitor fashion trends, consumer preferences, and competitive activity to inform product assortment and merchandising strategies.
• Align merchandising strategies with marketing campaigns and seasonal launches.
Merchandise Planning & Inventory Management
• Develop demand forecasts and merchandise plans based on sales trends, market insights, and historical data.
• Manage inventory levels through effective category management, supply chain analytics, and demand planning to prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
• Utilize sales and financial data to monitor performance, analyze profit & loss, and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Conduct financial analysis to support pricing strategies, demand planning, and profit optimization.
Production & Vendor Coordination
• Track production timelines from order placement through shipment, ensuring timely delivery.
• Communicate with manufacturers and vendors regarding production status, delivery schedules, and order changes.
• Collaborate with sourcing teams and vendors to negotiate contracts, optimize procurement processes, and maintain strong vendor relationships.
Operational & Cross-Functional Support
• Serve as a liaison between design, sales, production, marketing, and warehouse teams.
• Lead projects focused on supply chain efficiency, logistics coordination, and process improvements.
• Maintain organized product and merchandising records within company systems.
• Prepare reports related to product performance, order status, inventory, and financial metrics.
• Communicate complex data insights clearly using data visualization tools to support strategic planning initiatives.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Fashion Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
• 2–4 years of experience in apparel merchandising, product development, or wholesale apparel operations.
• Proven experience in supply chain management, inventory planning, and vendor relations within apparel or retail.
• Strong analytical skills, including data collection, mining, and analysis using tools like Excel, SQL, or ERP systems.
• Knowledge of fashion trends, consumer behavior, and competitive market dynamics.
• Excellent organizational, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Strong financial acumen for P&L analysis, pricing strategy, and profit optimization.
• Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
Pay: $24.00 - $35.00 per hour
