We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Introduction:
The hiring team are responsible for building the strategic R&A Wholesale Credit Risk platform used for internal risk management and regulatory reporting across Barclays International.
The successful candidate will be a development team member within the Project JUNO agile team, participating in all aspects of the development process, including regular interaction with Product owner, user story analysis, technical design, implementation, code-reviews, testing, production deployment, and support.
The successful candidate is rewarded with the opportunity to take ownership of end to end business delivery, and to shape a next generation Wholesale credit model platform.
What will you be doing?
o Key specific accountabilities.
o Understanding the overall purpose of the project and contribute in design, development, testing and maintenance of SQL Server database objects.
o Develop, support and improve existing SQL Server database objects and processes.
o Involvement in troubleshooting, performance checks of the database objects, analysing and rectifying issues within existing objects.
o Involve in test phases and work towards early resolution of defects and ensuring permanent fix.
o Design, Develop and Implement Change Requests (CR) from Business
o Adherence to Barclays policies and standards
o Support live implementation, Provide warranty support, Service transition, BAU support.
o Excellent communication and consulting skills Ability to work independently.
o Working closely with global development team members in other regions, participating in and contributing to technical discussions.
o Communicate effectively with the local development manager and team.
o Responding promptly to requests from the RTB support team in order to resolve user queries and handle technical issues that are out of scope for the support staff.
o Making technical updates to reduce the manual support overhead for the system.
o Working with BAs and Team Leads to understand the functional scope of project work, questioning decisions and collaborating with end-users to ensure that business needs are met on a timely basis.
o Drafting initial design proposals for reviews by team leads and architects, and contributing to detailed technical specifications where appropriate.
o Following good processes and practices, as defined by the team standards; ensuring that documentation is complete, comprehensive and signed off.
o Implement and test technical solutions from specifications to both new and existing systems.
o Ensuring code written meets the predefined company and department standards
o Involvement in peer reviews with more senior team members in order to provide constructive feedback
o Liaising with a test team to provide support during SIT, QA and UAT test phases
o Diagnosis and resolution of defects found during SIT, QA and UAT test phases
o Supporting regression testing.
o Following established process and practices with regards to source code management and audit controls.
o Writing release plans and coordinating release walkthroughs with the environment managers and RTB teams.
o Acting as a point of contact for support team, investigating and resolving issues found in production following minor releases.
o Providing on-call support for minor releases.
What we're looking for:
• Very Strong Knowledge in writing SQL and T SQL (views, stored procs, triggers, compex queries etc) using MS SQL Server (preferably) or any other database
• Able to handle end to end process including dev (MSSQL), testing, releases using CI/CD and prod support as needed
• Experience in tuning and enhancing SQL Queries for the optimal performance
• Business intelligence experience working with large data sets and data warehouses
• General understanding of the full Agile methodologies
• Hands on experience with Git or other source code control tools
• Knowledge on implementing CI/CD pipeline using Sonra, Teamcity, Nolio or similar tools
Skills that will help you in the role :
• 3+ years of total work experience in a relevant IT industry.
• Willingness to broaden skill sets and learn a secondary technology where necessary.
• Knowledge of AWS or any other cloud technologies advantageous, but not a pre-requisite.
• Analytical skills; ability to investigate and resolve issues in a high-pressured environment.
• Beneficial: General understanding of the finance markets and environment
• Development Experience in MS SQL Server Skills: Database Development, Performance enhancement.
