Job Title: Approvals Underwriter
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week (shifts between 8am to 6pm for example 8am-4pm/9am-5pm/10am-6pm)
Salary: £27,500 - £31,000 dependent on experience + up to 20% bonus + benefits
Location: 5 days a week in our Blackpool office (FY4 2FB) with some flexibility for hybrid after probation.

As an Approvals Underwriter you will accurately review and underwrite 2nd Charge Mortgage applications. Verifying, updating and considering the overall lend whilst effectively managing an active pipeline, communicating with both customers and brokers verbally and via email.

Your Impact: Building a greener tomorrow

As an Approvals Underwriter at Tandem your responsibilities will be to:

Review and accurately underwrite 2nd Charge Mortgage applications in line with our Responsible Lending Policy, Lending criteria and agreed service levels.
Obtain relevant mandates.
Accurately update relevant systems with the application detail.
Use Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and our internal systems simultaneously.
Request additional requirements needed to process the application.
Communicate clearly both in writing and verbally with brokers/customers throughout the underwriting process providing timely updates.
Effectively manage a pipeline of second charge mortgage applications from pack submission to completion.
Although these are the main responsibilities this is not an exhausted list.


We'd love to hear from you if you have:

Computer skills including full Microsoft office package.
Enjoy working as part of a team and able to work as an individual.
Able to effectively manage your day and prioritise your workload.
Able to adapt quickly if priorities change.
Able to demonstrate consistency.
It would be great, but not essential if you have:

Experience in underwriting/processing Mortgage applications.
Experience/knowledge of 2nd charge lending market.
Experience/knowledge of the regulations we work within.
